Yield estimates are indicative based on national averages. Actual yield depends on soil fertility, weather, pest management and farm practices. Income shown is gross revenue before input costs.

Crop yield is measured in quintals per acre (1 quintal = 100 kg). National averages for paddy are 26-28 quintals per hectare (about 10-11 quintals/acre). HYV and hybrid seeds with good irrigation can achieve 18-25 quintals/acre.

Irrigated crops yield 30-50% more than rainfed. Drip irrigation can further improve yield 20-30% over flood irrigation by reducing water stress and enabling precise nutrient delivery.

Normal varieties are open-pollinated with moderate yield. HYV seeds give 20-40% higher yield. Hybrid seeds give the highest yields (30-60% more) but must be purchased fresh each season as they do not breed true.
