Pythagorean Numerology Questions

Pythagorean numerology is the most widely used Western numerology system, attributed to the Greek mathematician Pythagoras. It assigns values 1–9 sequentially to the 26 letters of the alphabet (A=1, B=2…I=9, J=1 etc.). It is used extensively in the West and is taught in most English-language numerology books.

The Expression Number (also called Destiny Number) is calculated from all the letters in your full birth name. It reveals your innate talents, natural abilities and the destiny you are here to fulfil - what you were born to do and be in this lifetime.

The Soul Urge Number (Heart's Desire) is derived from the vowels (A, E, I, O, U) in your name. It reveals what you truly desire at the deepest soul level - your inner motivations that may not be obvious to others. Understanding this number helps you make decisions aligned with your authentic self.

Pythagorean uses sequential assignment (A=1…Z=8, then repeat). Chaldean uses sound-based values with no letter assigned to 9 (considered sacred). Chaldean is older and preferred by Indian and Middle Eastern practitioners. Pythagorean is more common in Western numerology. Both produce valid but different readings - use Chaldean chart for traditional Indian readings.
