PDF Merger - Combine PDF Files Online

PDF (Portable Document Format) was created by Adobe in 1993 and has become the global standard for sharing documents across platforms without losing formatting. Merging multiple PDFs into a single file is one of the most common document tasks for students, lawyers, accountants, and government officials in India. Whether combining marksheets for a college application, annexures for a court filing, or invoices for GST returns - having all pages in one PDF file simplifies submission and archiving.

How This Merger Works

This tool uses the PDF-lib JavaScript library to merge PDF files entirely within your browser - no file is uploaded to any server, ensuring complete privacy for sensitive documents. You can add multiple files, drag to reorder them, and download the merged PDF instantly. The tool preserves original page sizes, embedded fonts, and image quality across all files. It supports standard PDF versions up to 1.7 and works across desktop and mobile browsers.

Common Use Cases in India

Students applying to central universities or NEET counselling portals (like MCC or state DMEs) often need all documents - admit card, marksheet, ID proof, certificate - merged into a single PDF for upload. Income tax filers on the IT portal combine Form 16, investment proofs, and bank statements. CA firms and lawyers routinely merge court documents. This tool handles all such cases quickly, with no file size restriction from a server side, as processing is local.

PDF Merger Questions

Upload your PDF files by clicking Add Files or drag and drop them into the upload area. Reorder them using the up/down arrows - the final PDF will follow this order. Click Merge PDFs to combine them. The merged file downloads automatically. All processing happens in your browser - no server upload required. There is no hard limit on the number of files, but very large or numerous PDFs may be slow depending on your device's memory.

No - all merging happens in your browser using the PDF-lib JavaScript library. Your PDFs are never transmitted to any server, stored or shared. This makes the tool safe for merging sensitive documents such as property papers, legal agreements, bank statements, income tax documents, Aadhaar card and PAN card copies, and medical records.

Merged PDFs are sometimes larger because: (1) each original PDF may embed the same fonts separately - deduplication may not be perfect; (2) the merge library includes its own metadata; (3) some compressed streams may be uncompressed during reading and recompressed at a different level. Typically the size difference is small. If size is critical, run the merged PDF through the PDF Compressor after merging.

Yes - PDFs with different page sizes (A4, Letter, Legal, A3) can be merged. Each page retains its original dimensions. The resulting merged PDF will have pages of varying sizes, which is acceptable for most use cases. If you need all pages to be the same size, use Adobe Acrobat's Normalise Pages function or LibreOffice's Export as PDF option with a fixed page size before merging.

Common use cases in India: combining bank statement PDFs for loan applications or income tax filing; merging property documents (sale deed, khata certificate, EC, plan approval) for registration; combining pages of a business tender document; merging medical reports for insurance claims; combining educational certificates and transcripts for visa or job applications; and assembling GST return workings for CA submission. Indian banking and government portals commonly accept a single merged PDF for multi-document submissions.
