Universal Vastu Remedies

Sea Salt

Place a bowl of Himalayan pink salt or rock salt in affected rooms. Replace monthly. Salt absorbs negative energy - one of the most effective and inexpensive Vastu remedies available.

Vastu Pyramid

A copper or crystal pyramid placed at the centre or affected zone neutralises Vastu doshas. The pyramid shape resonates with universal energy - widely used as a non-structural remedy.

Lighting

Bright light in defective zones (SW, SE, NE bathroom etc.) counteracts negative energy. A lamp lit daily in the SE or NE compensates for many Vastu doshas. Darkness amplifies defects.

Yantras & Symbols

Vastu yantras (Shri Yantra, Kuber Yantra, Vastu Devata Yantra) placed on walls correct specific doshas. Om and Swastik symbols at the entrance and on walls purify energy flow in a home.

Vastu Remedies Without Demolition

Vastu Shastra remedies are corrective measures applied when a home, office, or plot has structural features that deviate from Vastu principles but cannot be altered through demolition or reconstruction. Traditional Vastu remedy knowledge is compiled in texts like Vastu Vidya Prabha and regional treatises, and has been further developed by modern Vastu consultants over the past three decades. The core principle is that every direction is governed by a specific element (Panchabhuta) and deity, and remedies work by introducing compensating energies through metals, crystals, colours, plants, symbols, and spatial arrangements to restore elemental balance.

Common Vastu Remedies for Indian Homes

The most widely recommended non-structural remedies include: placing a Swastik or Om symbol near the main entrance for positive energy flow, keeping the northeast zone clean and clutter-free to enhance spiritual and mental clarity, using sea salt in corners to absorb negative energies (changed weekly), hanging wind chimes in the northwest to activate the Vayu (air) element, using copper pyramids near Vastu-defective corners, and growing Tulsi (Holy Basil) in the northeast or east. For south-facing homes - often considered challenging in Vastu - placing a red bulb or lighting at the south entrance is a common remedy. Vastu consultants in India report that 60-70% of their client requests are for remedy consultations rather than new construction guidance.

How to Use This Tool

Select the problem area or defect you want to address - such as a toilet in the northeast, kitchen in the north, or entrance in the south - to get specific remedy recommendations. All suggested remedies are non-structural and can be implemented without renovation or major expense.

Vastu Remedies Questions

The most serious Vastu doshas are: bathroom or toilet in the Northeast (NE) corner - the sacred Ishanya zone - which causes health and financial problems; main entrance facing Southwest; kitchen in the Northeast; staircase in the Northeast; and a missing or cut Northeast corner. These are high-severity doshas because they directly affect the most positive energy zones of the home.

Yes - most Vastu doshas can be corrected without breaking walls. Common non-structural remedies include: placing Himalayan sea salt bowls in affected areas, positioning copper or crystal Vastu pyramids in defective zones, installing bright lighting in dark corners, placing Vastu yantras on walls, hanging wind chimes, and using specific colors in each zone. These remedies reduce the negative effect significantly.

Sea salt (especially Himalayan pink salt or rock salt) absorbs negative energy and electromagnetic radiation. Placing a bowl in bathrooms, the NE zone or affected rooms neutralises Vastu doshas. The salt must be replaced monthly - never reused as it has absorbed negative energy. When it turns black or gets wet, discard it. This is one of the most cost-effective remedies available.

A Vastu pyramid is a copper, crystal or brass pyramid placed at the centre of a room or at an affected zone to neutralise Vastu doshas. The pyramid shape amplifies and balances universal energy (prana). It is especially used for high-severity doshas like NE bathrooms, SW main entrances and missing corners. Pyramids can be placed on floors, walls or buried in the ground.

For a south-facing main entrance: place a bright light directly above the door, install a Vastu copper strip at the threshold, hang a Ganesha idol facing outward above the door, place Lakshmi footprint stickers pointing inward, and hang a 5-rod or 9-rod wind chime just inside. A south-facing door is manageable with these remedies - it is not as severe as a southwest-facing entrance.
