Telugu Calendar 2025 - Panchangam and Festival Dates

The Telugu calendar, known as the Panchangam, is a traditional Hindu almanac used by Telugu-speaking communities in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana - two states with a combined population of over 91 million. The calendar is based on the lunisolar system, combining solar months (Saura Masa) with lunar tithis and nakshatra positions to determine auspicious timings, festival dates, and muhurtams. The Telugu new year, called Ugadi, falls on the first day of the month of Chaitra and marks the beginning of a new Samvatsara (60-year cycle name).

Telugu Months and Ugadi

The Telugu calendar has 12 lunar months beginning with Chaitra and ending with Phalguna: Chaitra, Vaisakha, Jyeshtha, Ashadha, Shravana, Bhadrapada, Ashwina, Kartika, Margasira, Pushya, Magha, and Phalguna. Ugadi 2025 falls on March 30, beginning the Vikari Samvatsara. On Ugadi, families prepare Ugadi Pachadi - a mixture of six tastes symbolizing the flavors of life - and listen to the Panchanga Sravanam read by priests forecasting the year ahead.

Festivals and Shubha Muhurtams

Major Telugu festivals include Sankranti (Makara Sankranti in January), Ugadi, Sri Rama Navami, Vinayaka Chaturthi, Dasara, Karthika Pournami, and Vaikunta Ekadasi. Shubha Muhurtam dates for weddings and griha pravesh (housewarming) ceremonies are drawn from this Panchangam. This calendar covers all 2025 Telugu months, key festival dates, and auspicious timings for planning ceremonies and rituals.
