Invoice Number Generator FAQ

A good format is unique, sequential and easy to reference. Common formats: INV-2025-0001 (prefix + year + padded sequence), RUB/25/0001 (prefix + 2-digit year + sequence). Including a year prefix helps organise invoices by financial year.

Sequential invoice numbers are a GST requirement in India - you cannot skip numbers or issue them out of order. Sequential numbering makes it easy to spot missing invoices during audits and reconcile accounts.

Set the Starting Sequence field to 1 and click Reset. The counter saves to your browser and auto-increments from that point. You can reset any time to restart from your chosen number.
