MSP (Minimum Support Price) is the government-guaranteed price at which it procures crops from farmers. It is fixed before each season by CCEA based on CACP recommendations, factoring in cost of production, demand-supply balance and international prices.

APMC market fee (1-2%) is charged by the mandi committee and arhatiya commission (2-2.5%) goes to the commission agent who facilitates the sale. Both are deducted from the gross sale value. Rates differ by state and some states have waived mandi fees for certain crops.

MSP is announced for 23 crops: 17 Kharif crops (paddy, jowar, bajra, maize, ragi, arhar, moong, urad, groundnut, sunflower, soybean, sesame, nigerseed, cotton etc.) and 6 Rabi crops (wheat, barley, gram, lentil, mustard, safflower).
